The story
Ten years in the trade, based in St Neots
Jack Prime learned the trade from his dad, Martin, who still works alongside him on site most days. That's where the standard comes from: an older builder's habits, set out properly, get the foundations right, don't cover anything up you wouldn't want looked at later, carried into a business that homeowners can actually get hold of.
Prime Build Services Ltd works out of 11a St Mary's Street, St Neots, and covers Cambridgeshire and the counties around it. Most customers are homeowners: people adding space to a house they intend to stay in, opening up a cramped ground floor, replacing a failed driveway, or putting right brickwork that has been patched badly by someone else. We also take on new-build homes for private clients.
The work spans the whole build, not one slice of it. Foundations and groundwork, structural openings and steel beams, brickwork and stone, roofing on extensions, and the outside work that finishes a property off, patios, block paving, walls, fencing and full garden redesigns. Where a job needs a specialist trade, Jack Prime brings in people he has worked with for years rather than whoever is cheapest that week, and he stays responsible for the job either way.
What that means for you is one point of contact from the first look at the job to the last day on site. You won't be handed to a site manager you've never met, and you won't be chasing an office for an answer about your own house.

Most of the complaints homeowners have about builders come down to three things: work covered up before it was right, a price that moved without warning, and nobody picking up the phone. We run the business to remove all three.
Ground and foundations are done to the depth the job needs, not the depth that's quickest. Structural openings are propped and supported properly and built to the engineer's details. Brickwork is set out before it's laid so courses, perp joints and the pattern line through. And the site gets cleared down at the end of each day, because you're living there while we work.
Every completed job carries a 6-month workmanship guarantee. The company holds £2 million public and employers' liability insurance. If something isn't right within the guarantee period, you ring Jack Prime and he comes back.
